Phuket is famous for its breathtaking beaches – from lively bays lined with beach clubs to hidden tropical paradises surrounded by dense jungle. While some beaches are easy to reach and offer plenty of restaurants, others are more secluded and still feel like true hidden gems.
In this guide, I’ll introduce seven of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket that we discovered during our trip. You’ll find a mix of peaceful natural beaches, popular swimming bays, and special spots for snorkeling or watching unforgettable sunsets.

Out of the more than 30 beaches in Phuket, these were the ones that impressed us the most. Each of them is unique and offers a different experience – from quiet jungle beaches to lively bays with beach clubs. Here are seven beaches you shouldn’t miss when visiting Phuket, each with its own distinct character.
Banana Beach is one of those places that’s easy to overlook on Phuket – and that’s exactly what makes it so special. The small bay is hidden between dense jungle and feels almost like a secret beach. The water is usually calm and crystal clear, and the sand is bright and soft. A small beach restaurant serves simple Thai dishes and cold drinks. If you’re looking for a peaceful beach in Phuket, this is one of the island’s most beautiful bays.
Just a few minutes from the airport, Nai Thon Beach is one of the most relaxed beaches in northern Phuket. The wide bay feels surprisingly peaceful and natural. Large waves often roll slowly toward the shore, while a few local restaurants and cafés line the small road behind the beach.
For many travelers, Freedom Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. The small bay lies south of Patong and is surrounded by lush greenery. Fine white sand meets clear turquoise water – almost like something straight out of a postcard. Since the beach can only be reached via a steep jungle path or by longtail boat, it usually remains much quieter than the island’s larger beaches.
Merlin Beach – often called Merlin Snorkel Beach – is a small hidden gem for anyone who wants to snorkel directly from the shore in Phuket. The bay lies slightly hidden south of Patong and feels much calmer than the famous beaches nearby. Beneath the water’s surface you’ll find plenty of rocks and coral, attracting surprisingly large numbers of fish. Water shoes are recommended.
Located in the far south of the island, Nai Harn Beach is one of the most scenic swimming beaches in Phuket. The bay is framed by green hills, creating a sheltered and peaceful atmosphere. The water is often clear and ideal for swimming.
Kata Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Phuket without feeling overly crowded. The long sandy beach offers plenty of space for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing walks along the shore. Behind the beach, you’ll find numerous restaurants, small cafés, and massage salons. During the off-season, surfers often come here when small waves form along the coast.
Stretching more than 3.7 miles, Bang Tao Beach is one of the longest beaches in Phuket – perfect for long walks and relaxing hours by the sea. The bay is diverse: quiet swimming areas alternate with lively sections around resorts, beach clubs, and restaurants.
