Sarandë sits beautifully by the sea – but the real coastal gems are waiting just outside the city. If you’re willing to drive a few kilometers, you’ll discover bays that are hard to forget: wide open, peaceful, turquoise, and surprisingly uncrowded.

The best part? All 3 beaches are easily reachable by standard hire car and no 4×4 required:

1. Buneci Beach – The Wildest Beach in the Region

Finding Buneci Beach takes a little effort – and that’s precisely what makes it so special. It’s not as easy to stumble upon as other spots in the region, but the reward is well worth it.

What awaits you here is the complete opposite of a busy tourist beach: a wide, wild stretch of coastline that seems to go on forever, barely any visitors, and a stillness that’s increasingly rare to find during peak season. The water is shallow and glows in that distinctly Albanian shade of turquoise – perfect for swimming or simply drifting with the current.

Buneci Beach is raw, untouched, and completely unpolished. That’s exactly why it stands out.

How to get there: Turn off the SH8 at Tani Kola Psistaria and follow the road down towards the sea. Once you reach the waterfront, continue left until you arrive at Restaurant Bune Bay – there’s a generous parking area there. From the car park, walk through the restaurant and follow the shoreline to the left to reach the secluded bay.

2. Borsh Beach – Albania’s Best-Kept Secret

Borsh Beach is one of the longest beaches in Albania – and still one of its least discovered. The moment you arrive, you sense that this place is in an exciting chapter: small beach clubs have started to appear along the shore, bringing a relaxed summer atmosphere without ever feeling overwhelming. The gaps between each restaurant are generous enough that you can always find your own quiet patch of sand to swim and sunbathe in peace.

The water is shallow and turquoise, the mood easy and unhurried. Borsh Beach feels like a place you can still claim as your own – before everyone else catches on.

How to get there: A road runs parallel to the beach along its entire length. Simply drive along it, find a spot to park by the roadside, and walk down to whichever section of beach appeals to you. Next to the Sunny Beach Borsh beach club, there’s a large open area on the right where you can lay out your own towel and umbrella. Alternatively, the beach club itself is a great option if you’d rather have a sunbed and some shade sorted for you.

3. Pulëbardha Beach – The Best Sunset Spot in the Region

In short: the beach sits between Sarandë and Ksamil, away from the busier town centres, and the difference in atmosphere is immediately noticeable. Access runs through a restaurant with stunning sea views – worth a stop in itself. The beach offers plenty of space, including a free area where you can set up your own towel and umbrella without booking a sunbed.

What truly sets it apart, though, is the setting. The orientation of the bay makes Pulëbardha Beach one of the finest sunset spots in the entire region – the kind that stays with you long after you’ve left.
