3. Krabi Tips: How Long to Stay, Getting There, Getting Around & Best Time to Visit
To help you plan your time in Krabi as effectively as possible, here is a concise summary of the most important information:
How Many Days Should You Spend in Krabi?
I would recommend spending about 3 to 5 days in Krabi:
- 2 days – enough for the main highlights, but little time to relax
- 3 days – a great mix of beaches, markets, and first excursions
- 4–5 days – ideal to explore different beaches, viewpoints, and enjoy some downtime
- 5+ days – perfect if you’re planning island tours or kayaking adventures
Getting to Krabi
Krabi is easy to reach and fits well into any Thailand itinerary:
- Krabi International Airport – about 30 minutes from Ao Nang
- From Phuket – 2–3 hours by speedboat, taxi, or minivan
- From Koh Yao Noi / Koh Yao Yai – accessible by speedboat and easy to book online
- Tip: Combining Krabi with Phuket or the Koh Yao islands works especially well.
Getting Around in Krabi
In Krabi, you have several options for getting around:
- Scooter – the most flexible way to explore beaches and restaurants
- Grab & Bolt – affordable and widely available in Ao Nang and Krabi Town
- Longtail boats – essential for reaching Railay and nearby islands
- Tip: A combination of all three usually works best.

Best Time to Visit Krabi
The best time to visit is November – April, when the weather is mostly sunny and stable. From June – October, the landscape is greener, quieter, and more affordable – but expect occasional rain showers. We visited in February 2026 and had consistently great weather. Even during high season, some beaches felt surprisingly relaxed – especially away from the main hotspots.
4. Our Hotel Recommendations in Krabi
Krabi offers a wide range of accommodations, from simple hotels to high-end resorts. Here are our recommendations, featuring one top choice per region:
Leelawadee Garden Resort (Ao Nang)
If you’re looking for a peaceful and green place to stay in Ao Nang, Leelawadee Garden Resort is an excellent choice. The property is set away from the hustle and bustle and offers a relaxed atmosphere – perfect for unwinding after a day at the beach.
Bhu Nga Thani Resort & Villas (Railay East)
Bhu Nga Thani Resort & Villas is located on Railay and is the ideal base to experience the unique atmosphere of the peninsula once the crowds start to fade – for example at sunset. Thanks to its location in Railay East, you’re well connected and can easily reach the area’s most beautiful beaches on foot.
Nakamanda Resort & Spa (Nong Thale / Klong Muang)
If you’re looking for something more upscale, Nakamanda Resort & Spa is one of the best options in the region. Its location near Klong Muang Beach is perfect for relaxed beach days away from the crowds. The hotel even offers direct access to the sea.
Krabi SeaBass Hotel (Krabi Town)
For a stay in Krabi Town, Krabi SeaBass Hotel is a great option. The location is central, allowing you to easily reach markets, restaurants, and many attractions on foot or with short rides.

5. The Best Tours in Krabi
Beyond the beaches and markets, it’s definitely worth planning one or two excursions while in Krabi. Many of the region’s most beautiful spots can only be reached by boat or as part of a guided tour:
Island Hopping, Boat Tours & Stand-Up Paddleboarding
Organized boat tours are the best way to experience multiple island and beach highlights in a single day:

Besides boat tours, Krabi also offers these remarkable activities:
