There are destinations that have always been on your bucket list – and then there are those that appear completely by chance. A cheap flight deal. A scroll-stopping photo in your feed. For me, it was the latter: a secluded bay, crystal-clear turquoise water, hardly any people around. The geotag simply read: Albania. From that moment on, I started researching. The country is best known for its crystal-clear waters, hidden beaches, and fascinating history – and in recent years, Albania has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting hidden gems. Those were exactly the places I wanted to see with my own eyes. Between turquoise seas, historic old towns, and a level of hospitality you won’t forget anytime soon.

It’s Just Before Sunset in Himarë

The sun is already sinking low over the Ionian Sea, bathing the coastline in a warm golden glow. In front of me, the water sparkles as small waves gently roll onto the pebble beach. Behind the houses, the mountains of the Albanian Riviera rise into the evening sky – their slopes illuminated by the last rays of sunlight, creating the kind of Mediterranean atmosphere that feels almost unreal.

After just a few days, I had the feeling that I had discovered something truly special – a place that is becoming increasingly rare to find in Europe today. In this Albania series, I’d like to share my experiences, impressions, and travel tips with you.
